CASA: Community Action Stops Abuse
CASA (https://www.casa-stpete.org/what-we-do/ ) is an organization located in St Pete, Florida that supports families who have been impacted by domestic abuse and violence.
Their mission: Challenging the societal acceptance of all forms of domestic violence, CASA stands up to silence through advocacy, prevention, intervention, and support services.
Their Vision: A society free from domestic violence.
CASA has a safe shelter for moms, kids, and pets, offers programs for therapy, job skills, tutoring, and more and has a free store where women can select a new and beautiful outfit for when they obtain a new job. CASA also runs a thrift store where people in the community donate items for resale.
The pandemic has been particularly hard on families experiencing abuse as many have been ‘quarantined’ and trapped with their abusers. The shelter is full and the staff and volunteers are working 24x7 to provide support into the community when they can’t get to the shelter. The stories are shocking and also awe inspiring. People do rise out of these situations. But they need to see a way out and CASA is there to help.
CASA is an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization that is able to expand its services with financial support from a network of caring community organizations and members.
Hi Love provided financial support to CASA during the month of April as part of our ongoing #SharetheHiLove campaign. We thank you for your contribution!
