Inspiration occurs spontaneously, without intention. At its core, the feeling of being inspired feels like something that happens to you, rather than something that you choose. This is the basis of what inspired Hi Love Travel. You may not be aware, however the HI in Hi Love drew it’s initial inspiration from Harbour Island. Not only a chosen destination, but through the adventure of travel to this gorgeous island and true love, the brand found its roots in everything the island had to offer.
Welcome To Paradise
Harbour Island is a small island, at its widest, approximately .5 miles running east and west and 3.25 miles north and south. Known for having some of the best beaches to be found in the Bahamas, travel magazines and experts such as Fodors, Frommers and The Travel Channel have been writing on it’s charm for decades. The 2.5 miles of hard packed picture perfect pink sand beaches have become the islands most famous feature. The rich history of Harbour Island dates back as far as the 1700s, and has become a destination spot for many US travelers that are seeking a different type of island experience. The brightly colored architecture and welcoming locals draw you in immediately and put you at ease. Known as Briland to its residents, Harbour Island is an “out island” of the Bahamas, just off the northern tip of the larger island of Eleuthera.
Upon arriving, its almost infectious laid-back atmosphere instantly provides you with a quiet retreat that whisks you out of the fast pace of your daily life. One travel guide notes that, “with only a small handful of tourists that visit and less than 2,000 locals, Harbour Island is the perfect respite for families and folks hoping to relax by the beach, stroll quaint streets, pop into tiny shops or sip casual sunset cocktails (with Ms. V we recommend)" We agree!
Its greatest appeal? A laissez-faire island life - Days feel casual and informal and nights are relaxed and lively if you wish. The quiet nature of the island is absent of the social pressures encountered in the more populated destinations in the Bahamas. If you are looking for a destination that is remiss of nightclubs, casinos and an army of tourists, Harbour Island will delight you. The memories of past travels and the thrill of travel yet to happen will always draw us back to this tiny bit of paradise.
The Island Inspiration
So you ask, what inspired us to produce our first and this collection? We found that feeling loved and being on the island whispered in a way that appealed to the passion that we had for design. The colors of Harbour Island are strikingly vibrant and beautiful. Everywhere you look it is a virtual feast for the eyes. The blue skies and turquoise ocean, the pink coral sand beaches, and the rich colors embedded in the quaint architecture became the basis in the collection and continue to inspire us to this day.
